I love the photos but there aren't any photos of the trees from a distance. Just up close of the leaves and leaf joints. It's an awesome book for quick easy reference.

handy reference great for kids

this little book is perfect to take along on a trip or picnic to identify trees. lots of information in an easy to understand format, especially for kids but not bad for the adults either.

Written for a West Coast audience

Understandably this field guide can only cover a limited number of trees. But this manual unashamedly favors the West Coast, even when describing where trees grow. Picture and write ups are nice but entirely too parochial.
